hello
there is a perfect weight for teh hobie but it changes depending on the wind. My helm and I weigh 148 together and have done for the last 2 years! We recently competed at many big events and have been in the top 3. 140 is about perfect for the hobie 16. The things that you shold be working on is genral boat handeling. So evrything from mark roundings to tacking. believe it or not if you get it right the 16 isnt as slow to take as evryone believes. the main things that seperate boats when racing in 16s is the boat handeling in strong winds or just genrally getting the rig set up properly so you can handle the boat and still do well. write back if you have more questions
