Hobie 16 and Dragoon TT at Bognor Regis 14th-15th June

In marginal trapezing conditions and hazy sunshine the first race got under way with a tight start and a tactical up wind leg that was to epitomise the closeness of the racing throughout the weekend such that after three races the top four teams in the Hobie 16s shared equal points and only two points separated them at the end of the day. The same close racing occurred in the Dragoons with Richard and Andrew Glover on equal points with Hannah Rowles and Stephanie Wall by the end of the day.

After a typical excellent Hobie evening with live band the second day dawned to glorious sunshine but little wind. However after a short delay for the sea breeze to set in and some heads to clear, Chris Sproat was ready to get racing again. The pressure of the competition lead to a general recall in the first race and the subsequently applied black flag lead to two disqualifications but going into the last race the podium positions where still not decided. This was extremely tight racing with regular place swapping until the final beat. In the end it was the consistency of Ryan and Lewis Crawford that gave them the event.

Richard and Andrew Glover got two firsts to put them first in the Dragoons and it is good to see they will be continuing in this class after their completion of the Charter program.

It was nice to see new faces complementing the familiar and the youth squad being given a run for their money by the more mature with Tony Rix taking the over 21 prize.
