Thanks for that it seems a good idea i can only suppose that it has compressed over the years and that's why it is pulling out of the groove.

any suggestions as to any sail makers who might be able to undertake this work? I presume i will not get it done locally as i live 30 miles north of inverness.

i will check to the phone book just in case
