I've had the sails about 18 months now, and just recently (not gradually, all of a sudden!) the main has stretched about 8 inches, enough that the downhaul can no longer be attatched to the cleat its meant to be. My question is, can i take the sail to a sailmaker and have him replace the bolt rope with a shorter non-stretch one and it'll be fine (the sail is in perfect condition) or will i have to fork out £840 (!!!!) for new sails?
