I agree completely with Chris about the improvements, why complicate things. We have a good-sized 16 fleet with boats over 20 yrs old competitively racing brand new boats.

We are thinking about a spinnaker kit but this would only be used on the longer distance races or to add a bit more excitement when blasting around, for club racing it is not practical.

Extra tweaks like mast rotation and tensioning devices all add up to extra things to blame when you have a bad race. Part of the skill of a Hobie sailor is to set up your boat before you go on the water, then there is only the set up to blame (never the helm) when you have a bad race.

Hobie’s are a class boat that can be sailed to the extreme, if I wanted a Hurricane I would have bought one.
